Swords Lions Club marked the 25th Anniversary of its foundation at a function in the Clarion Hotel on Saturday 23 January 2010.

Swords Lions Club is part an international network of 1.3 million men and women who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities across the world. As part of Lions Club International, the Swords members have answered that challenge in the local community for 25 years. Members of the club have been involved in many worthy causes such as, drug and alcohol awareness programmes through school curricula and the provision of outings for senior citizens and the handicapped. In recent years the Club has also assisted groups such as, Brackenstown Adult Scene of Education (BASE), Fingal Counselling Services, Colaiste Choilm CBS, Swords, Loreto College, Swords and Ar Croi the Family support Group for Eating Disorder sufferers. Speaking recently, John Boylan, President of Swords Lions Club said,  “When you join Lions, you join a global service network. For instance, the Club will be making a significant contribution to the relief efforts in aid of the unfortunate people of Haiti. So at the same time that you’re helping your own community, you can also contribute to Lions community efforts in other countries. We are always looking for new volunteers and all are welcome. We look for people who are serious about their commitment to humanitarian service, but who like to have fun along the way”
