The United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough introduced Reverend Anthony Kelly as Bishop’s Curate of Holmpatrick and Kenure with Balbriggan and Balrothery. The ceremony was held at St. George’s Church Balbriggan, on St. Brigid’s Day Wednesday 1st February last. A native of Clontarf, Reverend Anthony Kelly spent last summer in the Clonenagh group of Parishes in Co. Laois prior to beginning this new role in the North County. He also spent time training in Africa for the position. It is a very important role with a wide geographical area to cover. He said he is “looking forward to the challenge”. Among those present was former elected representative for Dublin North, Trevor Sargent. Trevor was there in his capacity as People’s Church Warden for the church of St. George. A large crowd, in excess of 220, also attended the ceremony and to wish the new curate well. The main churches in the North County were represented as were many local elected dignitaries and business people also attended. It was a cross community event in St. George’s Church as was the reception in the Sunshine House afterwards. Full credit to all involved in organising the evening and in welcoming the new curate to the North County. We all look forward to meeting him.
