There was a welter of excitement last Thursday, 26th January, when the new Boeing Dreamliner 787, one of the most advanced aircraft in the world, paid a courtesy call to Dublin Airport. The Dreamliner was here to coincide with an aviation conference in Dublin and was available for prospective purchasers to view. However, they would have to wait until at least 2020 to pick up thir new purchase, according to Randy J Tinseth, Vice President of Boeing. The revolutionary airline is made from 50 per cent composite material, which is both stronger and lighter than aluminium. This gives the 787 unmatched fuel efficiency, enabling it to operate on 20 per cent less fuel. The airline is also 60 per cent quiter than the standard airline. Overall this leads to a much more pleasant flight, with less tiredness. Another striking feature is the much larger windows than the conventional one which have no blinds and the light levels are controlled by a series of switches.
