The many talents of the pupils of St Colmcille’s Boys National School, Swords were again on display at the X-Factor competition which was held in the school recently. This event which is organised by Ms Audrey Harte, Ms Lisa Hoey and Mr Oliver Fitzmaurice is considered one of the highlights of the school year for all members of the school community. After an exhaustive (and exhausting!) series of auditions, ten acts were selected to appear before a judging panel. Each act was allocated three minutes in which to impress, and the judges and audience were enthralled by tremendous displays of enthusiasm, singing and dancing. James Doyle and Jack Ryan who had sung Jessie J were awarded 3rd Place. In second place were Timmy Ojeaga, Ryan Rooney, Eoghan Leahy and Sean Lawlor who sang One Direction’s, That’s what makes you beautiful. The winner of the X-Factor, was Ethan Willmount who sang Rihanna’s, We found love. At the conclusion, Ms Audrey Harte congratulated the various participants and thanked all who helped to make this venture such a success. The school community will now turn its thoughts to preparations for the series of concerts which are due to be held in June, 2012 and will provide further opportunities to enjoy the acting, singing and dancing talents of the pupils of St Colmcille’s BNS, Swords.
