After a lengthy process it seems there is some good news on the horizon for the Fry Model Railway. Darragh O’Brien, TD, contacted the North County Leader to follow up on the progress of the much anticipated addition to Malahide.
Following a recent Local Area Committee meeting, it came to light that the tenders were received in late January for the refurbishment and extension of the Casino Cottage building, to allow for it’s use a the new home for the Fry Model Railway collection.
O’Brien spoke to the County Leader and said, ‘Cllr O’Brien and I are glad to inform you that some progress has been made as the tendering process is completed and it is now likely that a contractor will start on site in mid-April 2018.’
He continued, ‘The works are contracted to last 44 weeks finishing on site mid-February 2019. The proposal for the model railway includes a large working model train display as a central element in the main exhibition space.’
He concluded, ‘we are all eagerly anticipating the completion of this project, for the local community and tourists alike to enjoy.’
