At Malahide Sea Scout Groups Annual Leaders’ social night, outgoing Group Leader Colin Lynch was presented with a Gold merit award by Scouting Ireland for ‘Services to Scouting’.

The award was presented on behalf of the Association by Deputy Group Leader, Kevin Rowan, who embarrassed Colin appropriately by reading the citation of his achievements from an early age in the Group.

The mention of more recent events, and in particular, his leading of the team who refurbished the Scout Den to make it a centre of Scouting excellence and the landmark building in the centre of the village that it is today.

Colin’s acceptance of the award was thoroughly deserved and warmly received by all of those present.
