Sprightly Kate Stillman celebrated her 100th birthday with a wonderful party at the Glenside Hotel recently. Kate, who lives in Balbriggan, was born in Kells, Co Meath and moved to Dublin as a teenager. Here she met her husband-to-be, Frederick Stillman and they were married for over 50 years, until Frederick passed away in 2005 at the age of 95. The couple reared six children and Kate was the carer for her husband until she was 89 years-old.
Kate was a remarkable woman, who worked for Hassett and Fitzsimons Auctioneers in Dame Street, where she was a bookkeeper, eventually retiring at the great age of 82. She has a wide circle of friends and she been involved with the ICA for many years. She was also an active member of Balbriggan Historical Society. Kate now lives in Chapel Street in Balbriggan with her daughter, Mary. She is pictured here celebrating her landmark birthday with her son, Mark a well-known builder from Gormanston
