The first Holywell junior parkrun took place on Sunday last 3rd December and was a great success, with many local youngsters taking part. It will take place every Sunday at 9:30am.

Whilst the 5k parkruns take place on Saturday mornings at 9.30am, there are also 2k junior parkruns that take place on Sunday mornings. These are for children aged between 4 and 14; they are free and easy to take part in.

Cllr Darragh Butler (FF) who is an avid supporter of the parkruns said: “We are very lucky to have excellent junior parkruns in Rush and Balbriggan already and I am delighted that Holywell, Swords is being added to this list and starting next Sunday morning. This is really a brilliant event and brilliant for young children. They really will love it so please give it a go.

“You should log-on to the following website and register your children and print off their bar codes. Using their bar-codes they get a time at the end of each race and they get to track the number of races and get milestone wristbands when they’ve run a half-marathon and full marathon,” he said.
