Local Fine Gael Area representative, Bob Dowling has welcomed the allocation of €1,000 for Donabate Portrane Community Centre from the Fingal Local Community Development Committee (LCDC). The scheme was established by the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government in March.
Speaking on the allocation, Dowling commented “I am thrilled to see that Donabate Portrane Community Centre has been allocated €1,000 from this new scheme. While it may not seem like a huge sum of money to many, it will help the community centre to continue to develop and to keep offering their great services the local people of Donabate and Portrane”.

The wider Fingal area has received €65,000 in this scheme, and Dowling is eager for the funding to be continued in the future. “Donabate and Portrane have benefitted greatly in recent years from Sports Capital Grant funding and I am hoping that this scheme will be similar. I will be writing to the Minister to ask her to continue the scheme for the foreseeable future as many community groups will be able to use these funds to advance their organisation.”

He also encouraged others to prepare for the various grants scheme for next year. “I am also recommending that local community groups begin preparing for all of next year’s grants scheme, such as the Sports Capital Grant but also schemes that are not government allocated such as the Dublin Airport Community Fund, which is closed for applications for this year but clubs and groups should prepare for next year as there is up to €400,000 available.”
