Ballyboughal GAA Club is one of the four lucky winners to be awarded with a digital clock and scoreboard, to the value of €6,000, for their GAA club as part of the EirGrid GAA Moments in Time online competition.
The competition kicked off in conjunction with the GAA All-Ireland Hurling and Football Championship when EirGrid, proud and official timing partner to the GAA, encouraged GAA fans to post an image of their favourite Moment in Time to either Twitter or Instagram using #EirGridGAA.
Of the hundreds of entries, a small number of finalists were shortlisted and over the last two weeks, local communities across Ireland have been busy canvassing to get the most number of ‘likes’ on their picture in a bid to win this amazing prize. Voting for the competition closed on Monday, 16th and Ballyboughal GAA club was one of the four lucky winners.
Commenting on the winner’s announcement, EirGrid Director of External Affairs, Rosemary Steen said: “I would like to congratulate our winners, and commend their four communities, as well as the others shortlisted, for their tireless efforts in showing support to ensure their picture was selected as the winner.
“We’re looking forward to getting out to the four clubs in Tyrone, Roscommon, Dublin and Cork to meet the winners as well as seeing the scoreboard in use.”
Ballyboughal GAA Club Secretary Fergal Arthurs said: “We are delighted to have won this great prize and we would like to thank everyone that voted for us. We are in the process of upgrading our facilities and this scoreboard will contribute hugely to it. Thanks to EirGrid for providing us with this wonderful prize.”
