The FAI Summer Soccer Programme is entering its 21st year this year and commenced recently at the home grounds of Lusk United.
The camps aim to provide children between the ages of six and 14 the opportunity to attend a week-long football summer camp over the holiday period consisting of five days of football and fun, while giving participants the opportunity to learn new skills and tricks.
Speaking to the County Leader about the launch of the event, Lusk United Chairman, Emmet Burke said, “This is our seventh continuous year of the FAI Summer School Soccer Programme here at Lusk United with a full complement of 110 participants involved. We’re delighted with its continued success and most grateful to everyone behind the scenes that make this week possible, including the County Council, with the use of new club equipment which was recently purchased with the assistance of their Community Funding Scheme.”
He continued, “Over the years there’s been some famous graduates of the Summer Soccer Schools Camp, such as Shane Long, John O’Shea, Megan Campbell and Katie McCabe. Who knows, maybe one of the participants at Lusk United this week will get to wear the green jersey of Ireland in the years ahead.”
Congratulations to everyone who made the week a fantastic success, an incredibly popular Summer Camp within the community of Lusk and a leading light within the FAI programme itself.
