Local schoolboys from Malahide and Swords who formed a band a few years ago called ‘RedHead’ have enjoyed great success recently.
The boys put the band together when they were between the ages of 7 and 9, they are now between 12 and 14 years old. Their first performance was in the classrooms of their primary school, St Pope John Paul 2, National School Malahide, and they have since moved on to bigger and better things having appeared on the Late Late Toy Show 2015 performing their own rendition of U2’s ‘Every Breaking Wave’.
They have also performed at the 2015 and 2016 ‘Malahide Has It’ Festivals and they opened the 2016 ‘Swords Summerfest Festival’ on behalf of the County Council. Continuing on from that they performed at the 2016 Dublin Rose of Tralee fund raising concert. The icing on the cake for the group of lads was performing in Belfast Castle Court Shopping Centre for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent event in 2016, as well as performing at the 2016 St Partrick’s Day Parade both in Swords and Blanchardstown.
The band have written their own music and also play cover versions of some very famous tracks. Covers include songs by Arctic Monkeys, U2, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kings Of Leon, Coldplay, Nirvana and the Kinks. The band is currently working on a music video to go with their new single ‘Devil’s Dreams.’
They can be seen performing this July 22nd in the Swords Summerfest at 1pm on the main stage in Swords and also at the Malahide Has It Festival on the 29th and 30th of July.
