A new theatre group is coming to Swords this year. Tempus Productions is expanding it’s team and setting up a rehearsal base in Colaiste Choilm School in Swords for this winter season. Previously they were located in Clontarf, but feel that Swords offers a new and exciting area for them. They held an information night in Colaiste Choilm recently, in preparation for this year’s panto to be staged in Dublin City this December.
Tempus Productions has been in existence since 2009 and growing every year. Tempus Productions co-founder, Joe Lunney told the County Leader, “Our group is open to anyone who has an interest at any level in theatre plays, drama, panto and variety. We believe this area of the arts is virtually untapped in Swords and we’re looking for lots of new kids and adults. We have lots of names on our list already and still growing. We are a community based group, run by local people for local people,” he said. The motto of the group is to promote fun, self-confidence through theatre and acting and building trusting relationships that last a lifetime.
The Information evening attracted a good attendance, which included County Mayor, Cllr Darragh Butler and local councillor, Joe Newman who both welcomed the arrival of Tempus Productions to Swords and both feel they will be a great addition to the area. Cllr Newman has been a long time advocate of a theatre for Swords and has actively campaigned for one as part of the new Swords Cultural Quarter.
