Loreto Secondary School Balbriggan were lucky enough to have two costumes that made it to the recent Junk Kouture finals. There where several secondary schools that submitted entries and the girls from Loreto Balbriggan where very lucky to be placed in the final despite the huge competition from schools nationwide.
The first fashion creation was called ‘Taped’, it was designed and made by Nicole Fischer (who also modelled it), Niamh O Callaghan and Roisin Sherry. It was made from old video tape and coloured electrical tape. The design gives the current fashion for play suits a definite haute couture twist. The teacher who oversaw the creative process was Aisling Lennon.
The second costume is called “Lustre” and was designed and made by Ayman Ahmed (who also modelled it) and Tara O’Rourke. This very dignified and classy creation was made from tea lights and pistachio nuts under the supervision of Gemma Lynch and Rachel White.
