The newly formed Usher’s Lake Angling Initiative had a clean-up day at Usher’s Lake Swords recently. This was the first day of activity for the new group, who are continuing to reach out to find new members in Swords and the surrounding area who are interested in fishing.

Local councillor, Duncan Smith (Lab), who is Chair of the group told the County Leader, “We are just at the start of this very exciting project to get Usher’s Lake up and running as a proper community-based fishery. We all share a love of the lake and its woodland environment and it was great to get the waders on and get a proper clean up under way. In the weeks and months ahead, we will be working to improve the water quality of the lake and to improve access for fishing. We are looking to work with the Council and the local community to deliver this unique amenity. All new volunteers and members are welcome,” said Smith.
