A pilot Donabate Garda Clinic is to commenced on Tuesday, 14th of February in Donabate Portrane Community Centre.
This Clinic will be weekly every Tuesday between 11am to 1pm and will initially run for at least two months in the hope that if it is used and well attended, it will become a permanent fixture. The Clinic will be headed up by Sergeant Terri Ferguson, who will be assisted by Garda Tom Doherty and Garda Darragh Hynes who are the two allocated Community Garda for Donabate along with the Swords Policing Community Unit.
Cllr Adrian Henchy (FF) who is a resident in the area said, “One of the key issues I have been campaigning on over the last two and half years is an improved and sustained model of community policing for the peninsula of Donabate and Portrane.”
“In this time, along with other political representatives, I have taken every opportunity to build a strong relationship with An Garda Siochana by meeting with them at regular intervals and updating them with constituents concerns on all issues connected to the peninsula. Also by being a member of the Joint Policing Committee this gives me a further opportunity to table questions of policing matters and resources for our community,” he said.
“I would like to take this opportunity to recognise and pay tribute to An Garda Siochana and especially the ‘R’ District which is based out of Swords Garda Station and also covering Donabate and Portrane. Despite reduced resources they have been doing a great job in ensuring our community is as safe as it can be, by both preventing and reducing incidents of crime while fostering and developing strong community links.
“I would encourage everyone who have any concerns or issue of a policing nature to avail of this new Garda Clinic in Donabate on Tuesday mornings from the detection and prevention of crime, security, Improving road safety, working with Garda to prevent Anti-Social behaviour and improving everyone’s overall quality of life. This will ensure a positive and close working relationship between our community and An Garda Siochana,” he concluded.
