Local councillor, Joe Newman (NP) is delighted that work has commenced on repairing faulty footpaths at Forest Court in Swords, on foot of a request he made to the County Council earlier this year.
He explained to the County Leader: “I had been contacted by a local resident, whose wife is confined to a wheelchair. The journey for her to get from her home in Forest Court to the local shops in River Valley became very difficult, due to the poor condition of the paths in the estate. I contacted the engineer in the Council and he came out to have a look at the condition of the paths. He agreed that there was an issue and I’m delighted to say that his response was very positive and very fast,” said Newman.
The speedy response from the Council gives me great hope for any future dealings I may have with them and, while they take a lot of flack, they deserve great credit for their quick action here, making life a lot easier for wheelchair users in the locality,” he said.
