Dublin Airport is the first airport in the world to be awarded a prestigious international accreditation for how it manages its estimated E3 billion asset portfolio.
The airport was recently presented with the ISO 55001 Standard for Asset Management – a major honour recognising the outstanding work being done in this important area of activity.
Asset management is the care, maintenance and protection of all airport operational properties and resources such as T1 and T2, multi-storey car parks, as well as upgrading and maintenance on the runway and apron areas. Group Head of Asset Care, Peter Chambers said this was a great achievement for his colleagues and daa.
“Dublin Airport is on a cultural journey of developing Asset Management. Individually we are good at what we do, collectively we have opportunities to improve performance and passenger experiences by working collaboratively with our customers.
“Being awarded ISO55001 and becoming the first airport in the world to achieve this accolade is a great endorsement of that journey,” he added.
Dublin Airport is currently developing its assets further with two major investment projects. A E20 million extension to the apron area will deliver an additional ten new aircraft parking spaces on the northern end of the airfield. This is the largest single capital investment at the airport since the opening of T2.
A E14 million project is underway to expand the short term parking facilities opposite T2. The project will deliver an extra 1,400 car park spaces bringing the overall number of car parking spaces in the T2 multi-storey facility to 2,500.
