TaxAssist, who have been operating very successfully on Main Street in Swords for the past three years, are a prime example of making a business grow in the height of a recession.
TaxAssist is a very successful franchise which provides advice on tax and accountancy issues, and the Swords office is managed by Derek Christian and his staff of three. He told the County Leader, “We opened in October 2012 with one staff member initially, and are now into our third year in business with three full time staff. Part of the reason for our success to date is that we operate from a shop front, so people feel that we are more approachable.”
“We provide a wide range of accountancy services, including tax returns, payroll and bookkeeping and year end compliance for sole traders, partnerships and small to medium sized companies. We are part of the largest network of Accountants, who offer a huge range of experience and expertise to small businesses across the Republic of Ireland,” he said.
TaxAssist Accountants, which is located at 68 Main Street, Swords pride themselves on offering their clients a friendly and approachable service, and each client is treated as an important person. Services include visiting clients at home or at their place of business, in and out of working hours, both for initial meetings and collection of books etc. Derek continued, “We offer fixed fees, so there are no surprises during the year, and we give the option to pay monthly with no hidden interest charges. As our clients’ business and association with TaxAssist Accountants grow, our aim is to build up a level of trust, both at a local level and also through the support of head office.
Here in Swords, we have won two internal awards from TaxAssist Accountants in Ireland. At the end of 2012 we won the ‘most successful start-up’ award, and in December 2013 we won the ‘fastest growth’ award.
The network has grown to over 26 shops across Ireland, and in recent months has entered the top 20 Accountancy firms. A great achievement for the network in a relatively short space in time.
In congratulating Derek on three years in business, CEO of Fingal Dublin Chamber, Tony Lambert said, “Derek is another great example of an entrepreneur who set up business on the main street in the middle of a recession. With great determination, he has built a very strong business in a short time. Competition is what drives all business and TaxAssist shows how to succeeding crowded market. The Chamber congratulates Derek in not alone succeeding, but growing the business, with three full-time staff now employed,” he said.
