On Yer Bike In Lusk

 

A free community event was recently held in Lusk to celebrate Bike Week 2012. Fingal Bike Bonanza took place at Lusk National School Car Park where plenty of bike-raving fun was enjoyed throughout the day. The event was organised to encourage the North County community to reunite with their bike and get moving for Bike Week 2012. The event involved a bike swap area where people were invited to recycle their old bikeKids and adults alike could get a free bike check-up with qualified bike mechanics. Repairs were carried out on the bikes that needed that extra bit of TLC .

Repairs were carried out on the bikes that needed that extra bit of TLC . A vast number of bikes of many a make and model were brought out on the day and for those who wanted to be extra sure of the safety precautions one must take while on your bike, participants were given the chance to learn how to fit their helmets properly. Local schools from around the area and beyond also got involved on the day. Sandra Flavin, An Taisce Green-Schools Travel Education Officer told the County Leader: “National Bike Week has been a huge success in the North County again this year. The week is a great opportunity for schools and community groups to celebrate the bike as a sustainable and healthy form of transport and they did it in style.” An array of fabulous bike prizes were won, including local bike shop vouchers and those who dared showed of their bike skills on the adventurous obstacle course. Kids got the chance to meet crazy Dr. Fuzzelbaum and his giant Banana Boat and have their faces painted for free.
